I was hired by Oskar & Gaspar as the art director for the António Champalimaud Vision Award Ceremony in both 2022 and 2023. My role was to coordinate 3D and 2D artists to create animations for various moments of the ceremony, which were displayed on the LED screens. The challenge was to design the animations in a way that complemented the stage and its LED setup, ensuring the visuals enhanced the ceremony's atmosphere. The event was divided into different segments during the award presentations, and it was crucial that the animations adapted seamlessly to each moment.

PROCESS
The process for the António Champalimaud Vision Award Ceremony focused on representing the theme of vision research throughout various moments of the event, including the award ceremony and a musical moment.
For each segment, we built a unique storyline that visually represented aspects of vision. This involved using different textures and elements to symbolize sight, from abstract patterns to more literal representations like eyes or light. The animations were designed to reflect the importance of vision research while keeping the event engaging and immersive.
MY ROLE
As the Art Director for the António Champalimaud Vision Award Ceremony (both in 2022 and 2023), I led a team of motion designers and 3D and 2D artists to bring the event’s visuals to life. Having hands-on experience with the tools, I was able to communicate effectively with the team, ensuring smooth collaboration. I provided clear direction, quickly solved any challenges, and ensured that every animation aligned with the event’s theme and technical setup. My role wasn't only focused on the creative vision but also on ensuring that the entire process ran smoothly and efficiently.

Awards moment
For the award deliveries, we focused on using simple, elegant textures that followed the event’s color scheme and theme. The goal was to keep the visuals subtle yet impactful, ensuring the focus remained on the speakers and the award winners. The textures were designed to complement the ceremony without overshadowing the important moments.Musical Moment
For the musical moment, we created a unique storyline for each song, which was specifically composed for the event. We developed animations that followed the theme of the ceremony, while adding an interesting twist by combining the music with dynamic visuals. This allowed the animations to bring an added layer of emotion and energy, enhancing the overall experience while staying aligned with the event's message.
